With an extensive academic background and almost 20 years of medical experience, Dr. Theonia Boyd is a respected authority in the field of pediatric and perinatal pathology. A native of Gainesville, Florida, Dr. Theonia Boyd earned her Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1984. Four years later, Dr. Theonia Boyd received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Theonia Boyd began postdoctoral training at such institutions as the University of North Carolina Hospitals, as well as Children's Hospital Boston and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, both affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Four years after acquiring her training license in North Carolina, Dr. Theonia Boyd earned her medical license in Massachusetts in 1992. Since 2004, Dr. Theonia Boyd has mentored residents and fellows in the Department of Pathology at Children’s Hospital Boston. In 2009, she became the Director of the Division of Anatomic Pathology within that department. In addition to her clinical responsibilities and administrative tasks, Dr. Theonia Boyd also has held appointments and taught trainees as a consultant pathologist to neighboring medical institutions such as Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston University School of Medicine, UMass Memorial Medical Center, and Tufts Medical Center. As a highly regarded expert in the field of pediatric pathology, Dr. Theonia Boyd frequently lecturesfrequently lectures medical students, graduate students, and fellow pathologists. Dr. Theonia Boyd’s speaking engagements take her all over the country and abroad, including locations such as Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Dr. Theonia Boyd holds memberships in such distinguished groups as the College of American Pathologists, the Society for Pediatric Pathology, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.
